I would like to congratulate you all on your swims in the ECHO cup so far this year. Once again we have qualified for the final and this years promises to be the closet final ever. As you will be aware the team selected to swim in the final will be based on times and as such this unfortunately means not all swimmers who have competed in the first 2 rounds will be selected to swim. I do expect however all those who have competed so far to attend the final to be part of the parade of clubs who have made it through. For those of you involved in Micro League this year, the parade here is like the parade in the final at Blackpool x 100. The fantastic atmosphere generated by spectators and swimmers is unlike any other gala you will attend. Over the past couple of years the support for Penguin parents has been fantastic, no other team’s supports has even come close and it makes a big difference to the swimmers. Tickets are limited for each club and so we offer 1 ticket per child, if there are tickets left over then we hold a draw for those who would like more than 1 ticket. Tickets will be available in the coming weeks. For those of you who have the fantastic ”Penguin Supporters” Tee-shirts please wear them to the gala.
Afterwards there will be a party at St Padua’s Church Hall in Mossley Hill L18 8AY AT 6:00pm for the whole club, this is a ticket only affair due to capacity so make sure you get your tickets from Alan McCarthy
In preparation for the final I would encourage you all to attend as many training sessions as you can, we will hold a specific session for ECHO cup training (ie starts, turns takeovers, shallow diving and finishes) on Sunday the 21st October at the University with Adam Riley starting at 2:00pm and on Saturday the 27th October time T.B.A. Please make every effort to get to these 2 sessions so we are as sharp as possible for the final.
Thanks again for the effort you have all put into the competition so far.
The final of this season’s COLSC Echo Cup competition will take place on Sunday 28th October 2012 at Everton Park Lifestyles.
